Summer Wrap-up

The summer of 2026 programming has concluded! We extend our gratitude to all the librarians and educators who invited us to speak to their audiences about birds and bird conservation. Our summer began with a photo shoot at Wild Bird Adventures alongside our friends from Precision Camera. The core of our summer programming featured library events supporting the statewide Summer Reading Program, along with visits to summer camps and youth programs in county and city parks. We developed a new program to commemorate America's 250th birthday, highlighting the history of presidents and their "pet" birds. Attendees discovered interesting facts about famous and notorious presidential parrots and a pardoned turkey. They also explored the fondness four presidents had for the mockingbird and learned about the only owl to live at the White House with Roosevelt. This program was a fantastic way to celebrate this milestone anniversary.

At Wild Bird Adventures, we installed a concrete floor in our carport, allowing us to host groups in a shaded area equipped with lights and fans. Additionally, Wild Bird Adventures was honored as a 2025-2026 CILC Pinnacle Award Winner for providing exceptional interactive virtual programs and experiences.
